A team of Babson undergraduate students placed second at the 2007 Undergraduate National Case Competition (UNCC) held in Montreal, Quebec, February 1-4. Team members are seniors (left to right in photo) Jason Reuben, Justin Peagram, Mark Vandemore, and George Mica.

The UNCC is a 4-day event uniting some of the best and brightest university students from across Canada and the United States in a battle of academic wit. Held annually at Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business in Montreal, UNCC puts its participants’ analytical, decision-making, communication, and presentation skills to the test. Two business strategy cases are analyzed, with the scores of each presentation tabulated to determine the winner.
The first day, participants had to determine a growth strategy for an up and coming Canadian apparel company. The next day they were challenged to devise a plan for AskMen.com to leverage its online brand in the offline world. Competitors’ solutions were then provided to a panel of judges including AskMen.com co-founders Ricardo Poupada and Chris Bellerose-Rovny.
“It’s the first time Babson has participated in the competition in Montreal. We competed against 11 other top business schools from across North America, and I'm very proud of the team's hard work and dedication,” says faculty advisor and finance professor Ryan Davies. “This all-star team was also runner-up at the International Business Challenge in the fall! People are taking notice of Babson in the case competition circuit."
Taking First Place was Royal Roads (Victoria, BC); Third Place,McGill University (Montreal, Quebec); and the Participation Award went to McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario).
