USASBE Names Babson Social Entrepreneurship Workshop Tops at National Conference
A team of Babson faculty was named winner of the Outstanding Workshop Award following presentation at one of the largest entrepreneurship and small business conferences in the world held this month in San Antonio, Texas.
The workshop, “Social Entrepreneurship: Educating, Integrating, & Experiencing,” presented by Babson’s Candida Brush, Patricia Greene, Dennis Ceru, and Steve Schiffman (also on faculty at Olin College of Engineering), was led by Heidi Neck.
The winning workshop description states: “The momentum of social entrepreneurship (courses, programs, and research) is growing at an unprecedented rate. What we teach and how we teach social entrepreneurship has the potential to make significant impact by developing the entrepreneurial competency of our students. These skills enhance the likelihood that our students will identify and capture the right opportunity at the right time for the right reason.”
The annual USASBE conference is one of the premier gatherings of entrepreneurship scholars and educators in the world. It is a place to learn best practices in entrepreneurship education and program development, with recognition given annually to the model academic programs, pedagogy, and outreach efforts in the United States.
According to Michael Morris, President-elect of USASBE and professor at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, “The outstanding work of these individuals and their contributions takes USASBE to new heights,” Morris said.
The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship(USASBE) is the U.S. affiliate of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).
