Babson College will name its state of the art Astroturf field the MacDowell Field during ceremonies on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11:30 am. The ceremony will honor a leadership gift by Roy S. MacDowell, Jr., Virginia Strauss MacDowell, their sons Roy S. MacDowell III ’00 and Todd MacDowell ’03 and the entire MacDowell family.
The MacDowell’s are longtime supporters of Babson College. Roy S. MacDowell, Jr. is President of Boulder Capital, a real estate development and capital venture firm. He is also President of The MacDowell Company, Inc., a landscape design and construction firm. Roy serves as President of the Board of Trustees of the Rivers School in Weston, Massachusetts and is a Trustee of the Children’s Hospital Trust Board, Boston, Massachusetts, and the Anti-Defamation League of New England. He is a former member of the Babson Board of Trustees.
Virginia S. MacDowell is the former board chair of the Anti-Defamation League of New England and currently sits on the national board. She is a former trustee at Babson College, and is a trustee of the Meadowbrook School of Weston and is a vice-chair of the Board of Directors of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
In 2006, the college honored Roy and Ginny MacDowell with theJohn H. Muller, Jr. Parent Leadership Award, Babson’s highest honor for parents. Roy S. MacDowell III graduated from Babson College in 2000, majoring in entrepreneurial studies and real estate. Todd S. MacDowell graduated from Babson College in 2003, majoring in finance and entrepreneurial studies. Todd played four years of varsity lacrosse and was an integral part of the 2003 ECAC Championship team. After gaining experience in real estate finance at other firms, both Todd and Roy have joined Boulder Capital.
The MacDowell Field will be dedicated during the half-time break of the alumni lacrosse game at Babson’s annual Back to Babson celebration of homecoming and reunions.
