Hearing Impaired
Interpreting and Captioning Requests
Babson College and the Office of Disability Services provides students who are deaf and hard of hearing with high quality American Sign Language interpreters, oral interpreters, and C.A.R.T. Services as applicable for both academic and non-academic purposes. Our goal is to continue improving and expanding curricular sign language and oral interpreting services, along with C.A.R.T. services, to all matriculating deaf/hearing impaired students who have a documented hearing loss on file and who request services in a timely fashion to the Office of Disability Services. When students are required to attend a lecture/program that is supplemental to the class and a significant part of the grade process, services are provided by the College. Accommodation examples include:
Academic purposes may include (but are not limited to):
• Classroom Lectures
• Course-related discussions
• Academic based internships
Non-Academic purposes may include (but are not limited to):
• Student activities and programming
• Specials events on the Babson campus
PLEASE NOTE: It is critically important that students inform the Manager of Disability Services of any request for services at the first available opportunity. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the number of service providers is limited and the demand for these services is very high throughout the state.
