Internet AccessBabson College provides dual T3 (45Mbps) Internet connections. The Internet is available from every building on campus.
Users with a Babson account can access the Internet from any Babson-owned PC by logging in with your username and password. If you want to access the Internet from your own PC, you can plug your computer into any network port or connect via our wireless network.

Does Babson block access to specific hosts, websites, IP addresses or entire networks?
In the spirit of academic freedom, Babson does not currently block access to specific hosts, web sites, IP addresses or networks, except only for those which have been shown to be the source of attacks against the Babson network. Babson reserves the right to impose additional controls as necessary, without notice to users, in order to protect the technology and information assets of the College, and the ability of the College to fulfill its educational and business missions.
Does Babson use a firewall? Who sets the firewall policy? What is the policy?
Yes. The purpose of the firewall is to assist in securing the Babson network and its resources against threats both internal and external to the Babson network. Firewall policy is set by ITSD, in cooperation with representatives from the administrative and academic sectors of the College. The firewall policy is defined so as to allow fulfillment of the educational and business missions of the College, while protecting the information assets of the College from unauthorized access and/or attack. The firewall policy definition is proprietary to Babson College, and is not made public.
I want to run a protocol or service, which seems to be blocked by the Babson firewall. Who do I speak to about this?
Contact the IT Service Center at x4357 (HELP), and provide your name, the protocol name you wish to run, the port numbers required, and the academic or business rationale for opening the protocol or service. Requests to open protocols or services which do not have an academic or business purpose, or those which represent a security risk to the College, may be denied, or if approved, be prioritized at a service level below that of mission-critical applications. The College's sole judgment shall apply.
Does Babson use a proxy server?
