Wedding Guide for the Glavin Family Chapel
Reserving the Chapel
The Office of Spiritual Life will approve and schedule all events. Once the wedding reservation request has been received, the bride/groom will be contacted within one week. If the event is approved, the bride/groom will be sent a Glavin Family Chapel Event Contract. Please call 781-239-5623 if you have any questions.
Wedding reservations include the use of the Glavin Family Chapel for three hours on the day of the wedding ceremony, and two hours for a rehearsal before the wedding day.

Eligibility
The use of the Glavin Family Chapel for weddings is open only to members of the Babson community, which includes students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their children. Typically, chapel use for private events is available during the summer months of June and July and the middle two weeks of August. Due to college demand for the chapel, we prefer not to entertain requests more than one year in advance of the wedding date.
About the Glavin Family Chapel

Capacity. 150 guests. Additional seating may not be added.
Furnishings. The main sanctuary has 150 chairs, 4 arm chairs, podium (39” high), small table (30” high, 28.5”x 28.5” top), and table/altar/bimah (39” high, 69”x 42” top). These furnishings may not be removed from the main sanctuary.
Music. A Rodgers 751 Classic Organ is available for use by a professional organist. The Chapel is equipped with an audio system that includes a compact disc player, tape player and microphone.
Please note that Babson College does not arrange for the clergy/officiant, florist, organist, or photographer.
Fees
The fee for the use of the Glavin Family Chapel is $500.
This fee covers:
· use of the Chapel for 3 hours on the wedding day
· use of the Chapel for 2 hour for a wedding rehearsal
· administrative assistance in scheduling and filing documents
· police detail to assist with parking on the wedding day (only if director deems necessary)
· services of a student Event Assistant to assist with Chapel preparations
· expenses for Chapel maintenance
This fee does not cover:
· Services of an organist or other musicians
· Clergy honorarium
- Insurance:
For events consisting of 30 guests or more, one time insurance is required through a Tenants' and Users' Liability Insurance Policy (TULIP): Please see http//urmia.bene-marc.com (Babson College code 31101512).
- Signage
Checks should be made payable to Babson College and sent to the Office of Spiritual Life, Babson College, Babson Park, MA 02457. Fees must be included with the signed event contract.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations made one month prior to the wedding date will result in a full refund of fees. Please contact the Director of Spiritual Life at 781-239-5623.
Clergy/Officiant
It is the bride/groom’s responsibility to arrange for a member of the clergy or other officiant to perform their wedding ceremony.
Please note that Roman Catholic ceremonies have special guidelines established by the Archdiocese of Boston for weddings performed in non-parish settings.
Some individuals must register with the Secretary of State in order to solemnize marriages in Massachusetts. Please check with your clergy member to insure that these guidelines are met.
Organist
If the Chapel organ will be used in the wedding ceremony, it is the bride/groom’s responsibility to arrange for a professional organist. The following list includes several local organists who may be available to perform:

Parking
The driveway leading to the Glavin Family Chapel may be used for the wedding couple’s transportation and temporary parking for loading/unloading set-up materials (e.g. flowers, musical instruments). Wedding guests and participants may use Trim parking lot. Handicapped parking is available in the Trim or Hollister lots. A campus Public Safety officer will be available to direct parking on the wedding day.
Event Assistant
Babson College will provide a student Event Assistant to assist with Chapel preparations. Your assistant will contact you one month prior to the wedding, and will be present at the rehearsal and the ceremony to assist with preparations.
Flowers and Decorations
Decorations for the Glavin Family Chapel (flowers and bows) must be attached with elastic bands or string. Tape, thumbtacks or wire may not be used because they damage the furnishings. Please inform the florist of this.
Throwing confetti, rice or birdseed is not permitted.
