Graduate Awards Information
Annually, graduating students of the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business are recognized for making valuable contributions to campus life and the greater Babson Community. A listing of our awards is below:
Roger W. Babson Award - A cash award presented to the student with outstanding scholarship, leadership qualities, and service to the Babson community
Ralph Z. and Charlotte R. Sorenson Scholarship Awards for Meritorious Achievement- These scholarships are named in honor of the College’s seventh president and his wife, are awarded annually to a limited number of graduate students for academic distinction, extracurricular activities that provide service to the Babson community, and entrepreneurial endeavors
Global Student Leadership Award- Recognizes a graduate student who has shown significant achievement in global leadership on campus that advances the mission, vision, and core values of Babson College.
Alumni Association Award – Presented to the graduate student who fosters interaction with alumni and educates the students on the importance of giving back to Babson.
Douglass Foundation Graduate Business Plan Competition- This award is presented to the graduate student team submitting the plan that conveys the most promising combination of significant capital gains potential, attractive investment possibilities, and actual implementation. The plan must cover the whole business concept and implementation for a seed or startup venture, or for a given enterprise’s expansion. The 2008 winners received cash prizes and donated services, including consulting, legal, and network services. Individuals or teams may compete. The business plan must be written under the sponsorship of a Babson faculty member. The plan may have originated from an independent study project or as part of course work.
Graduate Student Leader Award- Presented to one graduate student from each of the four MBA programs for distinguished and outstanding service to the graduate student population.
The following award recipients are determined by department:
Marketing Award- Presented to the outstanding graduate student with a focus in marketing.
Marketing Division Scholarship Award – Presented to the graduate and/or undergraduate students committed to a career in marketing.
Finance Award – Presented to the outstanding graduate student with a focus in finance.
Charley Osborn Management Information Systems Award – Presented to the outstanding graduate student with a focus in management information systems.
Management Award – Presented to the outstanding graduate student with a focus in management.
Accounting Award – Presented to the outstanding graduate student with a focus in accounting.
The following award recipients are determined by the Office of Experiential Learning selection committee office personnel:
Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr. Foundation Inc. Global Manager Award – Presented to a graduate student intern for an outstanding performance in a Global Management Program project.
Babson-United Inc. MCFE Award – Presented to a graduate student team and sponsor company for outstanding performance on a Management Consulting Field Experience project.
The following awards are based solely on GPA:
Lewis W. Mustard Award – A cash award presented to the candidate in the Two-Year MBA program who has achieved the highest cumulative GPA at graduation.
Helen O’Brien Award – A cash award presented to the candidate in the Evening MBA program who has achieved the highest cumulative GPA at graduation.
Award for Academic Excellence (One-Year MBA program) – A cash award presented to the candidate in the One-Year MBA program who has achieved the highest cumulative GPA at graduation.
Award for Academic Excellence (Fast Track MBA program) – A cash award presented to the candidate in the Fast Track MBA program who has achieved the highest cumulative GPA at graduation.
