Undergraduate Incomplete Grades

Undergraduate students must remove the incomplete by making up the necessary work or taking needed Examinations by the end of add/drop of the next coming semester. Requests for exceptions to this timeline must be submitted in writing to the instructor with a copy sent to the student’s class dean by the end of add/drop. The instructor will decide if the request for exception will be accepted or not. Incomplete courses that fulfill prerequisites for the following semester must be completed 72 hours prior to the end of  add/drop period. This earlier deadline is to provide faculty time to grade the outstanding work or exam and submit the final grades to the Registrar’s Office before the end of add/drop. If the “I” remains after add/drop ends, the prerequisite will be considered not met, therefore the student will be dropped from the associated course. In the case of students who do not make up the work within the periods specified above, the professor will award “the grade…based upon the normal requirements for the course.” In effect, the faculty member not made up and calculates the grade. All grades must be submitted to the Registrar within 72 hours of completion of course work. The initiative to make up work to resolve an incomplete rests with the student. All incompletes will be changed into a grade following the end of the add/drop period. If no grade is received the default grade of “F” will apply. The Academic Standards Committee may, at its discretion, consider any grade of “I” an “F.”
