Graduate 06-07 Withdrawal Refund Schedule
(will be updated with the release of the new 07-08 student handbook)

Deadlines for Withdrawal from Courses

Students ceasing class attendance after the last date to

withdraw will be awarded a final grade based on the normal

course requirements, with a numerical value of “0”

calculated into the final grade for all course requirements

not completed. Ceasing to attend class does not constitute

an official withdrawal. A withdrawal form must be

completed at the Registrar’s office or students must

notify the Registrar’s office by e-mail before the withdrawal

date in order to withdraw from a course.

1. Withdrawal from Day Courses

There is no academic or financial penalty for dropping a

course on or before the sixth class day of the semester,

which coincides with the end of online registration for

the term. However, tuition is not refundable and the

grade of “W” is imposed if the withdrawal occurs after

that time. No withdrawals may be made after the 10th

week of the semester.

2. Withdrawal from Evening Courses

There is no academic or financial penalty for dropping a

course on or before the sixth class day of the semester,

which coincides with the end of online registration for

the term. However, after the sixth class day but on or

before the day of the fourth class meeting, one-third of

tuition becomes nonrefundable and a grade of “W” is

posted for withdrawals which occur during this time.

After the fourth class meeting day, tuition becomes nonrefundable

and a grade of “W” is given for the course

withdrawn. No withdrawals may be made after the tenth

week of the semester.

3. Withdrawal from Half-Semester Courses

For half-semester courses that meet during the day, there

will be no academic or financial penalty for dropping a

course before the third class meeting day. After the third

class meeting day and up until the fifth class meeting day,

students who withdraw from a course will receive a grade

of “W” and will not receive any tuition refund. No withdrawals

may be made after the fifth week of the course.

For half-semester courses that meet in the evening, there

will be no academic or financial penalty for dropping a

course before the second class meeting day. After the second

class meeting day and up until the fifth class meeting

day, students who withdraw from a course will receive a

grade of “W” and will not receive any tuition refund. No

withdrawals may be made after the fifth week of the course.

4. Withdrawal from Summer Session Courses

There is no academic or financial penalty for dropping a

course before the second class meeting. On the day of the

third class meeting, there is a one-third tuition loss and a

grade of “W” is given for the course dropped. After the

fourth class meeting day, there is a total tuition loss and a

grade of “W” is given for the course withdrawn. No

withdrawals may be made after two-thirds of the class

meetings during the summer.

5. Withdrawal from First-Year Modules in the

Two-Year MBA Program

Withdrawal from a module constitutes withdrawal from

the Two-Year MBA program. Withdrawals occurring

within the first week of classes (first five class days) carry

no academic or financial penalty. For withdrawals occurring

between the end of week 1 through the end of week

19, tuition and fees will be prorated on a daily basis.

Students will receive a “W” grade for the module in

progress at the time of withdrawal. The student will be

dropped from all future modules with no grade.

ACADEMIC POLICIES

6. Withdrawal from Summer Modules in the

One-Year MBA Program

Withdrawal from a module constitutes withdrawal from

the One-Year MBA program. Withdrawals occurring

within the first week of classes (first five days) in May

carry no academic or financial penalty. For withdrawals

occurring between the end of week 1 through the end of

week 9, tuition and fees will be prorated on a daily basis.

Students will receive a “W” grade for the module in

progress at the time of withdrawal. The student will be

dropped from all future modules with no grade.

7. Withdrawal from Fast Track Modules and Courses

Withdrawal policy for the Modules in the Fast Track

classes prior to September 2006 and withdrawal policy for

the BBI and ABL courses in the Fast Track MBA program

for admits starting in September 2006 and includes

all subsequent classes: Withdrawal from a core course

constitutes withdrawal from the Fast Track MBA program

(this includes the modular portion for students starting

prior to the September 2006 class and participation in

the BBIs — without passing a waiver exam — and ABLs

for the enrolled September 2006 class and all subsequent

classes). Withdrawals occurring within the first week of

classes (first five class days regardless if the course starts

online or face-to-face) carry no academic or financial

penalty. For withdrawals occurring between the end of

week 1 through the end of each module, each BBI and

each ABL portion, tuition and fees will be prorated on a

daily basis. Students will receive a “W” grade for the

course in progress at the time of withdrawal. The student

will be dropped from all future courses with no grade.

8. Withdrawal from Intensive Electives

Withdrawal from intensive electives is date-specific for

each course. Visit the Registrar’s Web site for specific

withdrawal dates. There will be total tuition loss and the

grade of “W” if withdrawal occurs after that date.

Students with any questions regarding their status in the

F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business should contact

Graduate Programs & Student Affairs, Ext. 4474.
