Resources for International Students International students come to Babson for a variety of reasons and have various plans post-graduation –some plan to take their education and experience back to their home country, others seek opportunities abroad, and some decide to continue working in the US. These resources can help navigate a job search abroad and in the US.
It is important that international students develop a relationship with an International Student Advisor as well as CCD and participate in career development events sponsored by OIP and CCD during the academic year.
Strategies for Effectively Using CCD as an International Student:
- Start the process early. It takes perseverance and motivation for international students to find employers who are interested in your skills and attributes regardless of your visa status.
- Participate in Internships & Field-Based Programs (MCFEs) to gain experience and network.
- Conduct Informational Interviews. Reach out to personal contacts and Babson networks.
- Utilize Career Resources located in CCD and online.
- Attend Employment Authorization Workshops sponsored by OIP for up-to-date information on how to apply for CPT and OPT.
- Attend CCD workshops throughout the academic year for tips on effectively navigating the job search.
- Practice your interviewing skills. Sign up for a mock interview with a counselor in CCD.
- Visit an International Student Advisor in OIP if you plan on pursing work opportunities in the US to review employment authorization procedures.
