Babson Jazz Ensemble Under the professional direction of jazz bandleader Joe Brogan. Minimum of one weekly two-hour rehearsal and two performances each semester. Open to everyone in the Babson/Olin/Wellesley community. All instruments are welcome. Theatreworks A theater troupe at Babson focusing on the classics. Participation is open to anyone in the Babson/Olin/Wellesley college community who is interested in acting, stage management, stage lighting, set and costume design, publicity and stage crew. Babson Players A drama group intended for business students who also have an interest in the performing arts, the Babson Players is the oldest and only student-run theatre organization on campus. The Players put on two student-selected shows each year, typically a Fall Comedy and a Spring Musical. All Babson/Olin/Wellesley students are welcome to join. Babson Dance Ensemble (BDE) A student dance organization that produces a dance concert in early December and a spring concert in April. Through student exhibitions, workshops, events, the display of student artwork and collaboration with other art-related organizations, these groups promote and infuse the arts into the Babson Community. Sorenson Center for the Arts Practice Rooms
Two music practice rooms, with Yamaha upright pianos, are located off the second floor lobby of the Theatre. Rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. Call X 5622 or email ksorensen@babson.edu to activate your Babson OneCard for access. (To schedule a Practice room: Click K drive, click Perm, click Sorenson, click Practice room 1 or 2, and fill in your name and contact info. on the date you choose. Hit Save.)
Park Manor Central Band Room
Equipped with five-piece Pearl Export drum kit, Galen-Kruger bass amp, Fender guitar amp, Yamaha electric piano, music stands, chairs, PA for voice, and instrument storage cabinets. Any Babson musician can sign out a key at the Sorenson offices in Park Manor South, along with a $25 refundable deposit, and arrange Babson OneCard activation to Park Manor Central by calling the Sorenson office at ext. 5622., or email ksorensen@babson.edu (To schedule the Bandroom, click K drive, click Perm, click Sorenson, click Bandroom, and fill in your name and contact info. on the date you choose. Carling-Sorenson Theatre A 441-seat theatre available for concerts and musical performances subject to availability. Equipped with a high quality sound reinforcement system, a Yamaha grand piano, music stands, and chairs. Call Burl Hash at ext. 5680 or email him at hash@babson.edu for information and availability.
Roger's Pub
Located in Park Manor Central. Equipped with carpeted stage, 12-channel sound system with monitors, piano, and track lighting for stage. To reserve the Pub for a performance event, call Sodexho at x 5259. To use Pub sound system call Sorenson office at ext. 5622.
