Program Description
In Girls Evening Field Hockey Camp, teams and individuals prepare for their upcoming seasons, working on footwork, agilities, and offensive and defensive corners. This camp is for girls entering their first year of high school through their junior year, ages 14-18. The camp takes place on our beautiful Astro turf facility under the eveing lights in July.
All sessions are played on watered surface, requiring proper footwear(turf shoes or cross-trainer sneakers). Goalie intruction is also available (please check appropriate box). Our coaching staff includes college-level coaches and players from University of Connecticut, Boston University, Babson College, Boston College, Northeastern University, and Springfield College.
The camp is geared toward the more experienced player looking to improve on the fundamentals and game play.
Camp Requirements
Campers must bring their own field hockey stick, turf shoes or cross-trainer sneakers, mouth piece and shin guards. All goalies must check the appropriate box on the application. If you do not have the equipment, please note on the application.
Program Objectives
Improve basic game skills: ball control, jabs, blocks, shooting, scoring and stickwork
Emphasize teamwork and fair play
Learn more about field hockey while enjoying the game
Julie Ryan, Camp Director
Julie Ryan begins her first full season at Babson's head field hockey coach and director of the Babon Field Hockey camp after joining the department in January 2007. A native of Brewster, Massachusetts, Ryan came to Babson from nearby Boston College, where she served as the Eagle's assistant field hockey coach from May 2005 until June 2006. Ryan's experience includes numerous field hockey camps throughout New England along with the U.S Field Hockey Association Futures Program. She has also served as the director of the prestigious Revolution Field Hockey Camps, and was the head coach of the Worester Country United U16 Team
