Study Abroad Living in a different culture challenges students' assumptions about the world and about themselves, and makes them more aware of both the differences and similarities between cultures. Through Babson's Study Abroad Program undergraduates can study at 42 institutions in 23 countries and take a variety of courses in line with their academic goals and personal interests. Students return to Babson with a new perspective on the world, adding another dimension to Babson's international mix.
Currently, study abroad programs are available to Babson students in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, England, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Babson students can also participate in the Semester at Sea program.
Glavin Center for International Global Management
Regardless of your focus, gaining a global perspective is vital in order to be a successful leader. At Babson, students think about the issues associated with a global economy as they learn how to work within a variety of organizations. The Glavin Center at Babson integrates international perspectives and activities of the College through research, academic programs, non-profit groups, university affiliation programs, student and scholar services, and visiting scholars.
Along with other campus organizations, the Center links the extensive Babson community around the world, including alumni, parents, friends, academic partners, and companies, in supporting international objectives in academic programs, recruiting and fundraising.
Honors Program
In line with Babson’s emphasis on global awareness, students in the honors program are required to partake in some type of international experience while at Babson. Through the program, students are immersed in many different international settings. International experiences include: a summer course at the London School of Economics, combined with an internship in London; a winter course at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile taught by Babson professors and local experts and complimented by site visits to locations of historical, political, cultural and business interest; or a spring course at the University of Antwerp in Belgium that includes lectures and visits to notable business and cultural sites.
Management Consulting Field Experience
Students involved with the Management Consulting Field Experience take their classroom knowledge and apply it to real business situations by consulting for various companies. In the spring semester, a joint consulting program with Fachochschule St. Gallen in Switzerland is available. The program enhances the students’ global business experience while simultaneously giving them the opportunity to learn about a different culture by working with undergraduate students from another university. Currently the MCFE office is working on making this opportunity available with other universities in other countries.
