Admission Process

Admission to Babson is competitive. We carefully consider each candidate's biographical data, transcripts, test scores, personal statements, and references. Interviews with an admission counselor or student admission intern are available but not required. If a prospective student opts for an interview, it will be used as part of the evaluative process.

Evaluation Criteria
Students are selected for admission to Babson based on evaluation of the following factors, in order of importance:

  • Academic performance
  • Level of course work (college preparation, honors, Advanced Placement); academic motivation, including interest in learning and a willingness to challenge oneself
  • Performance on standardized tests (SAT I or ACT; SAT IIs are not required)
  • Writing ability
  • Involvement in activities and/or work experience
  • Leadership, creativity, and enthusiasm

Your secondary school experience must include at least 16 academic courses, including four years of English, four of mathematics, two of social science, two of foreign language and one of laboratory science. In addition, because all students are required to take Quantitative Methods with Calculus during their first year at Babson, we recommend that you have completed math through precalculus. Of the remaining electives, we prefer to see additional languages, additional laboratory science courses, and other challenging courses. The academic environment at Babson is rigorous, and we look for students who are well prepared.

If you are home schooled, please read  this additional information for home schooled students.

For the Class of 2012, entering Babson this Fall, the admission office received approximately 4300 applications. Out of those applications, about 1513 were admitted to enroll a target first-year class of 460 students.
