Peer Mentor Profiles

Your Peer Mentor will be your official guide during Orientation, and will continue to meet with you on a weekly basis  during your First Year Seminar course.  

 

Husrav Billimoria'11 Hometown: India Campus Activities: Babson Cricket Club, SGA, H-Tower, Intramural Soccer & Wiffle Ball, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: When the Red Sox won the World Series!  This was my first time watching baseball and I've loved the sport since.  It was just crazy running around Babson celebrating their victory. Advice for incoming students: By coming here you've made a great life-changing decision that will open many avenues for you, no only pertaining to business but all aspects of life.  You are going to have the best time of your life if you're willing to manage and Balance your activities.  You can do almost anything under the sun at Babson!

Jasmine Brodmyer '09 Hometown:Ruther Glen, VA Campus Activities: Peer Mentor Training Committee, Admission Assistant Program, Chi Omega, Cheerleader, SGA Senator Most memorable experience at Babson: I can't really decide which is most memorable, but there are a few that stick out in my mind: Pop Culture Cranium (PCC) Wednesdays, Peer Mentor Training Week, my weekly campus tours for AAP, Orientation and FYS, a basketball game against Coast Guard, and Spring Weekend '08. Advice for incoming students: Make use of all your resources.  There are so many available to you from people to programs, and if you take advantage of them, then you can succeed.

Nick Camillo'11 Hometown: Stratford, CT Campus Activities: Theta Chi Fraternity, C.R.E.A.T.E, Honors Program, Playing music, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: Theta Chi Formal 2008, Halloween 2007, 80's Night, Alumni Weekend, and Meeting Delphine McKinley. Advice for incoming students: Meet as many people as you can and remember to enjoy yourself.

Darius Eslami '09 Hometown:Lawrenceville, New Jersey Campus Activities: Peer Mentor Training Committee, Babson Players (President), Class of 2009 Steering Committee, Contributing writer for the Babson Literary Magazine Most memorable experience at Babson: Anything Babson Players/Peer Mentor related. Anything involving friends.  I am SO specific, I know.  Oh, and setting a personal record for sitting in Trim for 8 hours and 33 minutes. Advice for incoming students: Test the waters and become comfortable.  Don't join a million things if you don't want to, but try something.  Who knows?  Maybe you'll really get into it.  And never let one bad experience sour you.  Take your time because it is YOUR time at Babson.

Jeff Festa '10 Hometown: Bloomfield, NJ Campus Activities: Theata Chi Fraternity, Campus Activity Board, Improv Club, SGA, Admissions Tour Guide, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: Explaining the sport of baseball to my friend from Singapore. Advice for incoming students: Don't stress; it's only college.

Lindsey Ford'10 Hometown:Belgride, ME Campus Activities: CEO/Founder of My Campus Tutor, I-Tower, Women's Tennis Team, Peer Mentor. Most memorable experience at Babson:Starting up my own business, playing my first college match, Knight Party, Orientation Weekend Fall 2007.    Advice for incoming students: It is easy to get caught up in FME and after school projects.  Just remember to take a break and have fun!  It will be some of the best times of your life.

Valentina Geba'10 Hometown:Easton, MA Campus Activities: Peer Mentor, Women's Leadership, Diversity Scholar at Babson so far: Going to Pub, Knight Party, sports games, plays, and any other campus life activity....and getting asked to be the Beaver mascot for Preview Day. Advice for incoming students: Relax, have fun, and don't be nervous.  College goes by very fast so make sure you enjoy it!

Molly Hamel '11 Hometown: Presque Isle, ME Campus Activities: Kappa Kappa Gamma, Admission Assistant Program (AAP), on campus job as a Research Assistant for Institutional Research, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: Meeting new friends from all over the world and joining Kappa Kappa Gamma. Advice for incoming students: Be yourself!  Don't be afraid to make new friends and try new things!

Manasi Hukku '09 Hometown: Randolph, NJ Campus Activities: Peer Mentor Training Committee, Women's Leadership Program, AMAN Most memorable experience at Babson: My most memorable Babson experience actually occurred while I was studying abroad; it was only after I was away for so long that I truly understood how incredibly unique and valuable my Babson experience and education really were. Advice for incoming students: Always be yourself, but at times walk a few steps away from your comfort zone, meeting people you don't usually interact with and experiencing activities you've never done before.  Relax and enjoy the unforgettable moments of collegiate life, but work hard and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way, ensuring that you are learning something new everyday.

Jenna Kochen '09 Hometown: Miami, Florida Campus Activities: Peer Mentor Training Committee, FME Mentor,Women’s Leadership Program, Hillel, Honors Program, Admissions Assistant Program, Math Resource Center Most memorable experience at Babson: I have had many memorable experiences at Babson fo far.  The connections I have built here really have made my whole time at Babson worthwhile.  The time I have spent with friends just hanging out always seem to be remembered as some of the best. Advice for incoming students: Get excited!  If you come in with an open mind, you can learn many new things.  Babson has so much to offer its students and you can accomplish many of your goals if you are motivated to do so.  Get ready for the best time of your life!

J. Tyler Low '09 Hometown: Natick, MA Campus Activities: Men's Varsity Lacrosse, Men's Club Hockey, Peer Mentor Training Committee, Admissions Panelist, and I cut the lawn for Babson Facilities. Most memorable experience at Babson: The way the campus came together and leaned on one another when my class lost two members this year.  That's the proudest I've been in a long time. Advice for incoming students: Say hello and smile at everyone you see here.  Say thanks when someone holds the door for you.  Pick up after yourself in the dining hall.  You only have four years, think about what you want those years to be.

Delphine McKinley '11 Hometown: Sleepy Hollow, NY Campus Activities: Going to the gym, playing music, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: Getting tackled while playing Duck-Duck-Goose on the first day of Orientation Freshman year-- very embarassing!  Also meeting Nick Camillo :) Advice for incoming students: Remember to manage your time wisely next year and always make sure you leave some tiem for things that make you happy-- repeat daily.

Ryan Meadows '10 Hometown: Whitinsville, MA Campus Activities: Peer Mentor, Babson Intramurals, Investing Club Most memorable experience at Babson: There are so many great memories-- Knight Parties, trim-sitting, playing wiffleball with friends, winning intramurals, going on spur of the moment road trips, waiting overnight for ACLS tickets at Fenway, and so many  more.... Advice for incoming students: Get involved with things you are interested in and try new things.  Enjoy your time here-- it goes by so fast.

Terrence Musto '10  Hometown: Glenmont, NY Campus Activities: Peer Mentor, Honors Program, President & Co-Founder of O.N.E (Origins of Necessary Equality)- Multicultural Housing and Organization. Most memorable experience at Babson: Creating a housing community and organiziation to bring new opportunities and perspective to campus and the student body. Advice for incoming students: Be willing to push your comfort level and challenge yourself to try something new.

Max Owen '09 Hometown: Hamilton, NJ Campus Activities: Lacrosse Player (Goalie), Knight Party All-Star, Mr. Babson 4th runner up, Retired Facilities worker, Peer Mentor. Advice for incoming students: Meet as many people as possible during orientation, it's the best time to!

Diana Sorgho '10 Hometown: Ouagadougou (BF) & Arlington, VA Campus Activities: President of African student organization, Peer Mentor, Babson Francophone Society, Black Student Union, Phonathon Most memorable experience at Babson: This has to be after giving my first rhetoric speech.  I was extremely nervous as I performed.  At the end of it, I felt the most releif I have had in a long, long time.  It was incredible. Advice for incoming students: Every other freshman coming into this school is as scared, as excited, as sad, and as happy as you.  Everyone is basically in the same position as you.  So don't fell like you are the only one feeling the way you do.  Chances are, most people are feeling exactly like you.

Vanessa Theoharis '10 Hometown: Upton, MA Campus Activities: Women's Leadership Program, Peer Mentor, Babson Players,  Admissions Assistant Program/Admission Intern, Q Multicultural Educator, Babson Dance Ensemble. Most memorable experience at Babson: "Trim sitting."  A relaxing time to recap with your friends, away fromt he rigors of school and activities, swap stories, and talk fo hours. Advice for incoming students: You're going to be nervous when you reach campus for the first time as a college student, try not to be!  Believe it or not, every single one of you is in the same boat- you've never been in college before, it's a whole new world.  Just make friends right away, and have as much fun as possible.  Get involved!  We have a huge amount of organizations on campus for sports, the arts, cultural groups, community service projects, etc.  Go out and join any one of these groups- it is the best way to take advantage of what Babson has to offer.  You will meet amazing people with similar interests who will make your first year at Babson unforgettable.  Also, call your family and friend from home once in a while...they'll miss you a lot :)

Victoria Volgende '11 Hometown: Ossining, NY Campus Activities: Sigma Kappa Sorority, Women's Rugby, Italian Club, B.O.C.A., Accoutning and Law Office Assistant, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: Meeting new people, Fall & Spring weekends, gaining new sisters. Advice for incoming students: Don't be nervous-- Freshmen year is the best year of your life!  Enjoy it!

Daina Williams '10  Hometown: Brooklyn, New York Campus Activities: Women's Leadership, Black Student Union, Posse, HOLA, Peer Mentor Most memorable experience at Babson: As director of community service and a human resources representative in my FME business, DecaWall, I learned a lot about overcoming obstacles like miscommunication, a lack of enthusiasm amongst members, and assuming leadership roles in other departments as well. Advice for incoming students: FME provides a great learning experience, so take advantage of it as much as possible by staying involved and assuming leadership roles in departments other than your own.  During your first year, it is also important to know about all the readily available resources on campus.  Go as often as possible and visit professors' office hours.  There are also many activities/clubs/organizations on campus- don't jump into all of them so quickly before getting used to the work load.  Get involved, go to campus events, familiarize yourself with the lifestyle on campus, become proactive, and be open-minded and optimistic.  Enjoy your first year; gain new friendships, and don't forget about your friends at home!
