The First Year at Babson

Meet the Area Director

undefined

Denning Aaris offers a welcome to the class of 2012....

Greetings!  My name is Denning Aaris and I am the Area Director for the First Year Area.  This means that I get the privilege and honor in working with the First Year students who will be living in Forest, Park Manor North, Park Manor South, Park Manor Central and Publishers.  Our staff is busy getting ready for the upcoming fall and we cannot wait to meet you in August.  A little bit about myself is that I am originally from Los Angeles, California.  I graduated from Boston College with my Bachelors and my Masters.  I spent a year volunteering with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after I graduated from undergrad down in Mobile, Alabama.   I am very passionate about traveling and embracing life.  I love meeting people from around the world, listening to their stories and sharing laughs.  I am mostly looking forward to hearing all of your stories and witnessing you all grow and learn from your new experiences.  I feel that I have one of the best jobs on campus because I get to work with you all and I get to welcome you to your new home here at Babson.  I hope that you are as excited to be a part of our community as I am!  If you have any questions, I am here for you so please ask!  See you soon!!!

Community Service

The Bernon Center checks in with this blog entry:

Did you know.....

Babson students and staff contributed almost 20,000 hours of service last year, locally, nationally and internationally!

In Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship, as part of your business, you will volunteer with a non-profit organization or agency and donate your business's profits to that agency!  Last year's first year students worked with youth organizations and after-school programs, food banks, soup kitchens,  homeless shelters, orphanages and much more!

If you received work-study as part of your financial aid package you might be eligible to volunteer and get paid for your service!

30 students and staff participated in Habitat for Humanity Alternative Spring break in March and built homes in El Salvador and Ne w Orleans. .

300 students, staff, families and community members ran in the Cruickshank Run for Shelter last year and raised over $3,000!  This years 5k run is on October 18th during family weekend.

Learn about these and all the other great ways you can get involved with Babson and make a contribution to the community at www3.babson.edu/Centers/Bernon.

Student Activities

It is pretty quiet on campus today.  I think many people are at the Boston Celtics parade in Boston.

Rob

The following is a message from the Office of Campus Life:

Did you know that Student Activities and Leadership advises over 70 clubs and organizations that coordinated 188 events and programs last year? Did you know there are endless possibilities to enhance your own social calendar and invite 1,800 of your closest Babson friends to join you?
