Clubs and Organizations
What do you like to do? What are you good at? What do you want to be good at? We have about 70 or so just waiting for your input. Almost every college activity you can imagine is here – the arts, athletics, Greek organizations, community service, the media council (paper, yearbook, radio, journal), student government, politics, multi-cultural groups, admissions recruiting, student mentoring, etc. And if you don't find what you want, start it up! After all, Babson is about entrepreneurial adventure! That's how the radio station, BCR, got started. A first-year student wanted to continue the DJ-ing he did in high school. And in February of his freshman year, Babson launched the first college web-based radio station in the world.
The Social Scene
Weekends on campus are a great time to relax and unwind with your friends. A typical Babson weekend is filled with possibilities; there's always something going on. You might catch a live band (Wyclef was here this past spring!) or a DJ at Roger's pub, hang out with friends in your residence hall, take in a movie at the nearby 16-theater stadium-seating Cineplex, or check out the Boston club scene. There may be a comedy showcase ("Whose Line Is It Anyway? has been to Babson twice) or theater performance at the Sorensen Center or a visiting entrepreneur, such as the CEO of Staples, Inc. There are also home sports events, DJ parties in Knight Auditorium, and first-run and art movie screenings.
Each semester there are incredible four-day theme weekends that include almost any entertainment you can imagine, magicians, hypnotists, dances, band concerts, outdoor drive-in movies, outdoor heated swimming pools, and food.
There are also a lot of off-campus attractions that are easy to get to. There are mixers and social events at other colleges. And Boston is filled with clubs, restaurants, and every kind of entertainment you can imagine. You can also easily get to Cape Cod, Rhode Island or the Maine coast or skiing in under two hours.
