After earning an undergraduate degree in accounting, Professor Coyle took a position as a staff accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. While there, he earned his CPA, was promoted to senior, and did a six-month tour of duty in Saudi Arabia. Professor Coyle later left Price Waterhouse to obtain his M.B.A. While at Cornell, he did some teaching and discovered that instead of getting rich on Wall Street, he wanted to become a professor.

Professor Coyle came to Babson in 1992, and received tenure in May 1999. He has taught in the undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs at Babson. He was on the launch team for IMC (Intermediate Management Core) in the undergraduate program and has taught IMC 1 since its inception. Professor Coyle's research interests are in Russia and the former Soviet Union. He has traveled to Russia and the CIS, including Siberia (by choice), Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, more than 20 times since his first trip in January 1993. Annually Professor Coyle leads a group of Babson MBAs to Russia. He is a member of the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of their Committee on Entrepreneurship.  Bill has been appointed Director of the MSA (Master in Accounting) Program.

Areas of expertise include accounting, auditing,and Russian accounting practices.
