12/2/08 - W Basketball
The Babson College women’s basketball team jumped out to an early 11-0 lead and never looked back as the Beavers defeated visiting Framingham State College, 65-43, in a non-conference contest at Staake Gymnasium on Tuesday night. It marked the 399th career victory for Babson head coach Judy Blinstrub, whose team improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Rams dropped to 2-4 with the loss. Babson was once again powered by the dominating inside play of first-years Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) and Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.), who combined for 33 points and 27 rebounds in the victory. Wurdeman finished with 16 points, a career-high 18 boards, and three blocked shots, while King added a team-high 17 points to go with nine rebounds. Sophomore Becky Bowman (Melrose, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points and four assists for the Beavers, who recorded a commanding 55-29 rebounding advantage in the contest. [+]


12/2/08 - W Swimming
The Babson College women’s swimming and diving team completed a near sweep at Simmons College Tuesday evening when they won all but two events out of 16 with a score of 156-130. Sophomore Mia Filippini (Lake Forest, Ill.) led the way for the Beavers with three individual first place finishes. With the win, Babson improves to 4-4 on the season and Simmons is now 1-2. [+]


12/2/08 - M Basketball
Senior captain Steve DeLuca (Merrimack, N.H.) scored a game-high 24 points and junior captain Andre Roberson (Springfield, Mass.) added 15 points and seven assists as the visiting Brandeis University Judges held on for a hard-fought 70-60 victory over host Babson College in a non-conference men’s basketball contest at Staake Gymnasium on Tuesday night. With the win, Brandeis improved to 2-3 on the season, while the Beavers fell to 4-2. Babson was led by another strong performance from sophomore Shelton Ladson (New York, N.Y.), who poured in a team-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a sparkling 5-for-7 clip from beyond the arc. Senior captain Zach Etten (Hollis, N.H.) added 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including a 5-for-8 clip from long range, while Ladson and senior Pat Belniak (Sutton, Mass.) each grabbed a team-best six rebounds. First-year Matt Florio (Skillman, N.J.) contributed some big baskets off the bench, finishing with seven points, and first-year Lambros Papalambros (Quincy, Mass.) dished out five assists to go with five points.
