Application Requirements | Transfer Credit Evaluation

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Important Information

Beginning with Fall 2008 applicants, the Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) Process has moved online. Applicants should submit courses for approval through their My Babson accounts under Helpful Links. Additionally, students are able to create their own TCE using a list of already preapproved courses. Students may add courses pending approval to their TCEs.

Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) Process

Transfer students may transfer in a maximum of 63 credits into Babson. Courses in the following categories will not be considered for transfer:

  • Courses where the student received a grade below C
  • Nonacademic courses (such as recreational courses)
  • Courses that contributed to your high school diploma
  • Preparatory courses that are not currently offered at Babson (such as elementary level math courses and ESL courses)

In addition, all courses will be reviewed by faculty to determine if content is similar to what is covered in Babson courses. If course content is found to be insufficient, the course may be denied for credit.

Course Material

All course material submitted by the application deadline will be reviewed, and admitted applicants will receive a tentative transfer credit evaluation with their admission letter.

Syllabi are required for all business (including accounting, finance, marketing, management, economics, etc.), math, science, law, and computer science classes. The syllabus is the document you receive from your professor at the beginning of the semester. All syllabi should contain a detailed list of topics covered each day in the course. Please note that some syllabi only list the chapters discussed each day. In that case, it is important to submit a copy of the textbook's table of contents.

Detailed course descriptions can be submitted for liberal arts courses, including foreign language courses. Please send individual copies of all course descriptions. Please do not send course catalogs.

For all transfer applicants who have studied in International Universities: Babson College may need additional time to prepare your tentative Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE). Please supply us with as much information about your University’s grading and credit policies as possible. It is very helpful if your transcript includes a certified translation of your course credit as equivalent to semester credit hours. We will do our best to provide you with a tentative TCE by the dates mentioned above, but cannot guarantee an evaluation by those dates.
