Arts and Culture

Babson College

Babson students defy the stereotype that business students are singularly focused.  With one half of the classes in the liberal arts and many opportunities outside of the classroom, cultural activities are all around campus. You can live in the Liberal Arts specialty tower with students who are interested in culture, dance, film, literature, photography, philosophy, politics, religion, science, etc. With cutting-edge facilities such as the award-winning Richard W. Sorenson Center for the Arts and the Sorenson Family Visual Arts Center, there is no shortage of art exhibitions or programming. There are visionary artists who visit campus through our guest artist and Thompson Visiting Poet programs. There are many campus-wide organizations that support creative expression such as Southeast Asian Student Association, the Art Club, the Babson Dance Ensemble, Babson Players, Babson Asian Pacific Student Association, and the Babson Literary Magazine, among others.

Babson is in the town of Wellesley, Massachusetts, a suburb located 14 miles west of the country’s largest college town—Boston. More than 250,000 college students live in the Boston area. The city is just 30 minutes away by car or public transportation. Babson also provides access to a shuttle service on the weekends, and students have access to two Zipcars that are parked on campus. World-class culture and living history are easily accessible in this intimate, walkable city known for its history, music, dance, theater, and centers of finance, medicine, and learning. Because Boston is home to people from many cultures, it is easy to find some of the world's best cuisine in local restaurants. Also home to many major corporations, award-winning firms and Babson’s largest alumni network, Boston provides abundant business exposure right next door to campus.

Many other interesting attractions are close to Babson as well. You can travel to several nearby cities, such as New York, which is approximately four hours away by car. Ocean beaches, lakes, and mountains for skiing and hiking can be reached in less than three hours.
