Campus Resources The amount of support and mentoring Babson students receive is one of the true hallmarks of the Babson experience. Resources abound on campus—whether an individual, an office, a building, or one of the Math, Writing, or Speech resource centers. Here are just a few of the many resources also available to Babson students.
The Office of Academic Services is the primary source for academic and personal support. Students have the same class dean throughout their time at Babson. Class deans help plan the Babson experience by offering advice on course selection, cross-enrollment, off-campus resources, and independent research, among many others. The Office of Disability Services also is located within the Office of Academic Services in Hollister Hall.
The Bernon Center for Public Service keeps students, staff, and faculty in touch with the needs of the surrounding community and provides opportunities for interaction with a diverse set of populations through our many relationships and community partnerships. The center works with many community-based organizations to present a number of events throughout the year and always is committed to organizing and coordinating additional events that will bring assistance and awareness to those in need.
The Center for Career Development strives to empower students to create their unique path for success and to impact an evolving global community. CCD delivers a comprehensive, integrated career planning program which helps students identify and secure appropriate and challenging employment through targeted career programs and services.
Dining Services strives to provide the finest quality meals and service at reasonable prices. Including Reynolds Café, Jazzman’s Café, Pandini’s, and Trim Dining Hall, they offer a variety of options satisfying varied dietary requirements, personal tastes, and individual schedules. Whichever one you choose, you know you’re getting excellent meals at a terrific value.
Health Services is committed to maintaining and improving students’ health through preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic care. The on-campus professional staff includes a team of nurse practitioners, a medical assistant, an administrative assistant, a supervising physician, and a health educator. When appropriate, referrals are made to independent health care providers and physicians. Students in need of counseling, short-term consultation, or referrals for outside mental health care can turn to the Babson Counseling Program. Services are provided through Human Relations Services (HRS) in Wellesley.
Horn Library is not your typical college library - the high level of activity is immediately apparent upon walking through the doors. Students work individually and in groups using a focused collection of print, audiovisual, and computerized resources. The library subscribes to a vast collection of periodicals and newspapers available from any computer on campus through Internet subscriptions with Dow Jones Interactive, InfoTrac Web, Lexis/Nexis Universe, ProQuest Direct, FirstSearch, and Primark's Global Access. Electronic resources, such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Bridge, Compustat, and Morningstar, are available for industry, company financial information. Through the library’s online catalog, students can select books in both business and liberal arts topics from Babson’s supply or for delivery from other area college libraries.
Math Resource Center is one of the most valuable academic resources for students as they complete their required mathematics classes as well as upper elective math courses. The MRC is staffed by fully qualified students and faculty to guide students who feel challenged by their math material. The frequent, helpful open walk-in hours are often used by students for homework or exam preparation. The MRC is located on the first floor of Babson Hall, across from the Cutler Center.
Public Safety provides law enforcement, security, and emergency services for all property owned by the College, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The office also oversees emergency medical responses, medical escort services, fire safety and detection, crime prevention, escorts, parking enforcement, and Operation ID, as well as other community policing functions. In compliance with the Clery Act, information about campus crime is available on the Public Safety Web site. Paper copies are available at the Babson College Office of Public Safety.
The Reynolds Campus Center (RCC) is the hub of undergraduate activity. As it houses the bookstore, dining options, gaming options, student mail services, serenity and student resource rooms, and the student iMacs, you will spend a lot of time at the campus center. View our virtual tour to take an inside look at the RCC through the eyes of fellow students.
Speech Resource Center works closely with students as they learn how to be more effective communicators. Coursework may include speeches, oral briefings, class participation, or team presentations. The Speech Center also helps students develop competence and confidence in a variety of out-of-class projects and job-related presentations/interviews. Speech coaches include faculty one-on-ones and custom-designed workshops with Professor Sydel Sokuvitz. The Speech Center also offers rehearsal space and taping. The Speech Center is located in Horn Library.
The Office of Spiritual Life works with religious advisers and student organizations to offer a variety of programs ranging from regular worship services to small group meetings. As Babson students prepare to be leaders in a global community, understanding cultural and religious diversity becomes increasingly important. The Spiritual Life Team strives to help members of the Babson community deepen their faith and sharpen their sympathies for other traditions.
Writing Resource Center aids students as they continue to strengthen their writing skills in all courses, whether business related (such as case analysis or business plans) or within the liberal arts (such as research papers or creative writing). The Writing Center is fully staffed by students and faculty. Student Peer Consultants are required to pass an intense specific writing course before meeting with students for in depth writing consultations. Appointments with Writing Consultants may be made online on the Babson Portal or over the phone. The Writing Center is located on the first floor of Babson Hall. | Undergraduate Admission |
