Class Dean: Each incoming class is assigned a Class Dean who provides both personal and academic support for all students in their class. In addition, the Class Dean remains with their cohort throughout their entire four years at Babson. The Class Dean for the Class of 2013 is Dean Gerri Randlett, who works in conjunction with the first-year staff. The Class Deans are located in the in Hollister Hall.
First-Year Seminar Instructor: A First-Year Seminar (FYS) instructor is a Babson College staff member trained to teach in the FYS program. The instructor is responsible for the overall execution of their FYS section, including creating the syllabus, coordinating topics and guest speakers, and managing the co-facilitation process with the peer mentor and faculty adviser. The FYS instructor aids new students with their transition process, and provides support to students as needed throughout their first year.
Peer Mentor: A peer mentor is a sophomore, junior, or senior at Babson who has been selected to guide and provide support to a cohort of new students throughout their first year. Peer mentors are carefully chosen and participate in a thorough training process. They serve as the first contact for new students during fall orientation, and continue their mentoring responsibilities through the co-facilitation of a FYE section.
Faculty Adviser: A faculty adviser provides guidance to students from a faculty perspective through their participation in the FYS program, by attending FYS social events, and through personalized contact via their office hours or scheduled appointments.
