October 29, 2009 Advisory

Attention Babson Students:

I wanted to provide a brief update about the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines. Due to manufacturers’ delays in distribution of the seasonal flu vaccine, we are awaiting the shipment of additional Seasonal flu vaccines that are on order. To date, we have been able to vaccinate 708 individuals and hope to offer additional seasonal flu clinics as soon as we receive more vaccines.

The H1N1 vaccine is not available at this time but we will notify you as soon as we receive our shipment allocation from the government. We don’t anticipate the receipt of the H1N1 vaccine prior to Thanksgiving break. If you have an opportunity to obtain the H1N1 vaccine while visiting home during the break, we would encourage you to consider it.

Here are important tips to prevent the transmission of the flu:

-Cough or sneeze into your upper arm/elbow.

-Wash your hands frequently, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

-Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.

-Avoid close contact with sick people.

-Seek medical assistance as needed

Please rest assured that as soon as we receive additional flu vaccines we will communicate with you via email.
