There are three types of searches:

Advanced Search Tips

Search Syntax

Start by entering part of an individual's name, like Einstein.  Select from a list of names with birth and death dates.  After you have selected the appropriate person, you will have the following possible choices: 
  • Narrative biographies
  • Thumbnail Biographies
  • Marquis Who's Who profiles
  • Magazine articles
  • Websites.

Use the Biographical Facts search to find people in a specific profession, country, birth and death years, nationality, ethnicity, occupation, or gender.  Fill in the appropriate boxes and search.

The Advanced Search allows you to use drop down boxes to identify whether search terms are in Name, Full text, source name, document number or keywords fields.  You can also limit by date range.

To return to a previous search, click on Search History.  You can return to the search by clicking on your search terms, then clicking view.

Viewing & Printing Options

Mark the items you wish to see and then click on Marked List in the left hand column. You can then chose to email or send to printer (be sure to select Full Article if available).

You can print or download at anytime. Scroll to the bottom when viewing an article, and you will see viewing, printing and e-mail options.

To print, go the top left hand corner of article and click Print.

To save to disk, click File . . . Save Frame As or copy & paste the text into Word.  Make sure you save to A:\ for floppy disk or C:\ for your own hard drive, change the extension to .txt, and change the file type to "Plain Text".

Scope

Biography Resource Center & The Complete Marquis Who's Who includes full-text articles from reference books and hundreds of periodicals.  Search for people based on one or more personal facts such as name, birth and death year, nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender, or combine criteria.  This database includes the Complete Marquis Who's Who(R) which helps find quick reference information on an additional 1.4 million people.


Access Restrictions:Students, Faculty, Staff, and Walk-In Alumni and Visitors may use.
