Scope

Contains more than 2000 entries written by over 1200 subject specialists. Provides full, detailed coverage of philosophy as understood by the Anglo-American academic mainstream. 400 entries are devoted to world philosophies including various Asian, Jewish, Arabic, Russian, Latin American and African philosophies. Presented in alphabetical order by keyword, each entry consists of two parts:

  • short overview containing essential information
  • main entry with fuller detail and bibliographic information

A print edition is available in the library's Reference Collection (call number B52 .R68 1998) and the Concise Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy is online via Netlibrary.
