Basic Steps
Select the Search tab on the top of the screen to search over 8,000 publications individually, in groups or the entire database at once. There are several ways of searching for articles; Search by Company, Industry, Region, or Subject. - Enter your search terms in the box, if you need suggestions for search strategies refer to the advanced search tips or use the Examples hyperlink above the search box.
- At the bottom of the screen you can click on the Select sources button to select sources by title, industry, region, type, or language. NOTE: check the All Sources box if you would like to search everything at once!
- Click on Run Search to execute your search.
- Click Examples for search options and/or to narrow results. To cut down results, change the search to Look for words in Headline & Lead Paragraph, Lead Paragraph or Headline choices. Change Date options if necessary, exclude Republished News (duplicate articles) and click Run Search.
- Select from the resulting list. Place a check in the boxes from the Headline list of results to print or save groups of articles.
In addition, there are several other features in Factiva: Company Screening, Quotes and a Company Quick Search. These services allow you easy access to screening for companies by industry, size and location, searching for stock quotes and company searching for basic information. |

Viewing, Printing & Saving OptionsMark the items you wish to view and click on the eye icon on the top of the page. From here you can chose to email or print your selections, by selecting the printer or letter icon on the top of the page. |

Troubleshooting Tips:
- If a Factiva login screen appears after you login, close the window and click the login link again. Usually you will be able to connect the second time.
- If you have the message "the user name and password you have entered are already in use..." after connecting, there are too many users connected. Try again in a few minutes.
- Recommended Browsers: Factiva supports Internet Explorer 5.01 and above, version 5.0 for the Macintosh (it also supports Netscape 6.01 and above). If you are using a lower-level version of one of these browsers, Factiva will prompt you to update your browser.
