There are many different report types in Stat-USA, so you may need to consult at the Information Desk or the Writing for assistance.

Basic Steps

Click on either the State of the Nation or GLOBUS & NTDB to begin.

State of the Nation

Scroll down to the list of General Indicators or other reports or click on one of the links under "The State of the Nation Library" to search under that category.

GLOBUS/NTDB/International Trade Library

Click on a link under a report category or use the "Quick Search" box to find reports that mention your topic.

Viewing, Printing & Saving Options

Use your browser's File, Print Frame option from the File menu to print text.

  1. Use your Browsers File . . . Save Frame As . . . to capture text and tables to a file. Some documents are available in Excel and Word format.
  2. If not, change Save as Type: to Plain text (*.txt)
  3. Choose your drive, name your file and press Enter.

Scope

A U.S. Department of Commerce subscription service composed of multiple parts:

State of the Nation contains data on the U.S. economy and finance including daily economic news, economic indicators, housing and construction, employment, manufacturing and industry, monetary statistics, and economic policy.

Global Business Opportunities (GLOBUS) has trade leads and procurement activity from the Defense Logistics Agency, United Nations, and Commerce Business Daily. Historical trade leads are available for up to three months. Historical TOPS leads are provided for up to two years.

The National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) has Country Commercial Guides, market research reports, and U.S. trade statistics. You can search the entire NTDB or just parts. Country Commercial Guides are usually displayed in about 12 sections; retrieve the table of contents to ensure you have the entire report. The Market Research Reports may include general economic information as well as product and industry reports.  Older editions are in the CD-ROM cabinet and can be checked out for 3 days.

The International Trade Library is a comprehensive collection of over 40,000 documents related to international trade. All are full text searchable, as well as key word searchable by country or product. Research reports on industries by country.
