The great weight debate rages on!

The increase of overweight and obese children and adults continues to rise each year, despite the multitude of weight-loss and fitness programs that are heavily advertised to us all. The world of nutrition and health is confusing at best and usually quite daunting even for the most well-intentioned individual.

Enter Mindfulness.

Can something as simple (and free) as mindfulness truly change the way you eat? “Slim By Design, Mindless Eating Solutions for Everyday Life” by Dr. Brian Wansink, who is a leading behavior economist, will be our book of choice for the urRECA program allowing us to explore our own habits, behavior, dietary perceptions and thoughts surrounding food, health and body image. By taking a close look at ourselves and hearing what works and does not work for others we hope to hope to gain insight and lay the path for each of us to reach a place of peace, balance and wellness when it comes to food.

Julianne McLaughlin, a Holistic Nutrition and Weight Loss Counselor will bring this topic to Babson’s urRECA program.   urRECA /yo͝oˈrēkə/ unites faculty and staff across the community in energized discussion around books and other media. When reading is followed by Reflection, Enlightenment, Commitment, and Action (RECA), both the individual and the College benefit from newly informed behaviors yielding personal and professional growth. Hosted by the admission staff, group information sessions are a great way to learn about Babson. We welcome prospective students and their families to attend a session to learn about Babson’s unique curriculum, student life, and the admission process. 

Information sessions are held in the Lunder Admission Center at Mustard Hall. Parking is available in designated spaces in the Lunder Parking Lot or Knight Parking Lot. When you arrive, please see the receptionist in the admission office for a parking permit. Click here for information on getting to campus.
