Babson has a “Dining Hall of Distinction” says University Business Magazine

NORWALK, Conn, October 1, 2009 – The dining program at Babson College is among eight runners-up across the country in the “Dining Halls of Distinction” recognition program by University Business Magazine.

Dining Halls of Distinction represent excellence in all aspects of dining operations, including atmosphere, service, variety of offerings, guest satisfaction, environmental sustainability, and financial stability.

Higher ed institutions from across the nation submitted their dining programs for consideration, with a total number of 65 entries received. “Competition was strong, but some clear winners did emerge during the judging process,” said Melissa Ezarik, managing editor of University Business. Entries were evaluated by three editors and the magazine’s art director (also a college parent), as well as by a recent college grad, a graduate student, and Dr. Neal A. Raisman, a higher education consultant and former college president. Four main winners and eight runners-up were selected from the entries.

Student Government Association President John Campbell is not surprised by the recognition.  "Babson's Sodexo team goes above and beyond to be responsive to student initiatives and concerns. The friendly staff, the variety and quality of food, and the impeccable service make every meal a real pleasure."

Sodexo's strong partnership and working relationship with the college's leadership team is lauded by Undergraduate Dean Dennis Hanno. "Sodexo's responsiveness to campus needs is always quick, creative and impactful.  The dining experience continues to be top of the line and the food choices have expanded greatly in recent years in direct response to student feedback."

For a look at the winners and runners-up, check out the October issue of University Business online at www.universitybusiness.com. Also online are the completed entries and a list of must-have characteristics for campus dining programs.
