Information for Parents
Dear Parents:
Whether your son or daughter is a first-year freshman like many of our incoming members or a transfer student from a previous institution, a Babson legacy or a first-generation college student I encourage you to explore with them the possibility of becoming involved in Greek life.
Coming to Babson is a major life change for students and joining a fraternity or sorority can help ease that transition. Involvement in a Greek organization can be a life-changing experience, adding to a student’s sense of belonging in college while simultaneously providing unique leadership opportunities that only a fraternal organization can provide. Greek organizations are a training ground for tomorrow’s leaders and provide opportunities for the men and women involved in them to take part in a myriad of activities that build scholarship, leadership, service, and friendship.
Academic success is a priority for all seven of our chapters and each fraternity and sorority as well as our governing councils have individuals dedicated to scholarship…a result of which is an all-Greek GPA that is consistently higher than that of non Greek students. Greeks at Babson dedicate countless hours fundraising and volunteering to help support both their national philanthropies and community service projects in the greater Boston area. Additionally, as any good business student knows, networking is a key element in finding success after college and involvement in a Greek organization is yet another connection your son or daughter will have for a lifetime.
Greek life is not for everyone; however, if your student is a leader among his or her peers, involved in his or her community, interested in school spirit, academically driven, and altruistic in character, I encourage them to see what being Greek at Babson has to offer! Both the time and financial obligations involved with Greek life vary from chapter to chapter. Know, though, that both commitments are an investment in your student’s future. All of our fraternities and sororities are housed in the Office of Campus Life and adhere to Babson College policies on hazing and alcohol use. Your student will be in good hands in the Greek community here at Babson.
On behalf of all of our Greek organizations, please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you better understand what Greek life is all about.
Sincerely,

Jennifer Zamora
