Transportation

TO BABSON

Driving is the most common (and easiest) way to get to Babson.  The Massachusetts Turnpike and Interstate 95 are both major interstates with very good traffic flow while Routes 9 and 16 are both major state roads.  Be aware that traffic on Route 16 can be heavy throughout the day.

Another option is the Commuter Rail; the Wellesley Hills station is about a 20-minute walk to campus (1.1 miles).  For daily train schedules, please check http://www.mbta.com

Veteran’s Cab (781) 235-1600 is located in Wellesley and is the most convenient way to travel to and from the commuter rail. Babson. Be aware that cab fare can cost about $3 per mile.

If you are coming from Logan Airport, the easiest way to get to Babson is to pick up a taxi at the taxi station.  This will take about 20-40 minutes depending on traffic and cost about $60.

GETTING AROUND BOSTON

ZipCar
Babson has available two ZipCars on campus. They are parked in the Trim parking lot. More information about using the ZipCars can be found at http://www.zipcar.com/babson/

Shuttle Service
Babson offers regular shuttle service from campus to several locations in the greater Boston area including: the Woodland Hill T stop, Quincy Market, Downtown Crossing, the Museum of Fine Arts, Copley Square and the Theatre District. More information and the complete Shuttle schedule can be found at: http://www3.babson.edu/offices/campuslife/resources/shuttle.cfm

Walking
Boston is known as “America’s Most Walkable City” and only a short stroll through the City’s neighborhoods will prove that point.  From the North End to Back Bay, from Beacon Hill to the South End, and from Charlestown to the Financial District, most of Boston’s most interesting neighborhoods are connected by the Freedom Trail, a self-guided walking tour which brings Boston’s history to life.  Check out http://www.bostonusa.com for more details.

Taxis
Cabs are expensive and a fare from downtown Boston to Babson can be almost $60.  Here is a list of some taxi services but more can be found on http://www.boston-online.com.  Please note - taxis pick up passengers only in cities where they have licenses.

Subway
The MBTA, also known as the “T”, is the most affordable method of transportation in and around Boston.  In addition to the underground and above-ground trains, the “T” buses serve many areas throughout the area.  Fares vary, depending upon the point of origin but the average fare is $1.25. Note: the “T” does not come out to Babson, but the Woodland “T” stop is approximately two miles from campus (take the “D” train of the Green line all the way to Riverside).
