Outfitting Your Room
We want students to make their room feel like home. So be CREATIVE! However, we also have some rules and regulations to keep in mind. - All students must return the room to its original condition. This includes having all furniture, trash cans and recycle bins that were orginally present during check in. If any of these items are missing upon check out, students will be charged for their replacement.
- Students living in Keith, Canfield, Pietz and McCollough may paint their room. However, students must first seek permission from their respective Residence Director and only the approved colors may be used. A list of these approved colors is available in the Office of Campus Life.
- Students living in any other residence halls may not paint their rooms.
- If at any time it is discovered that a student has painted his or her room (including those who did not follow the guidelines for painting in Keith, Canfield, Pietz or McCollough), a work order will be placed for Facility Services to repaint the room. Please be aware that students may not repaint the room themselves and will be charged for services rendered.
Some suggestions for decorating are:
- linen program
- posters
- framed pictures
- TV/VCR/DVD
- stereo
- power strips
- refrigerator (up to 3.5 cubic feet)
- small microwaves (.5 cubic feet)
- plants
- pictures of friends and family
- flags
- mirrors
- peel-off wallpaper borders
- throw-pillows
- beaded curtains
- inflatable furniture
- desk lamps
- additional shelving
- closet organizer
- paper cups, plates, utensils
