Guidelines

Marketing Media has produced a comprehensive set of brand guidelines to provide visual cohesiveness for Babson’s internal and external communications. Maintaining Babson’s visual communications is vital to protecting the integrity of its public image.  By using the Babson logo(s) correctly at all times—in all applications—Babson continues to enhance its reputation as a premier academic institution. 

Brand Guidelines
It is essential for branding elements to be adhered to when preparing printed materials, developing electronic media and creating other various forms of media. The links on this page will guide you toward understanding the visual and editorial standards that best promote the Babson brand.

The Babson logo(s) and athletic beaver are the property of Babson. Before using any logo on apparel, gifts or promotional items, a branding review is conducted to ensure the correct logo usage. Please contact Eric Stich, Manager of Graphic Design at x4272 or by e-mail addressed to estich@babson.edu to request a review and obtain the necessary approval.

Editorial Guidelines
This guide was designed to suggest consistent solutions to common problems faced by anyone writing about and for Babson College. While the editorial guidelines were originally developed in 2002, the content is updated regularly. It is intended as an addition to the Associated Press Stylebook and Webster's New World College Dictionary. Some listings suggest grammar rules, and some address strictly style issues. Whether or not everyone agrees with all the recommendations in this guide, its intent is to help us achieve consistency of style in our writing College-wide.

Trademark and Copyright
When using one of the trademarked Babson taglines, please include the following “safe harbor” text in external communications: <insert tagline> is a trademark of Babson College. All other brand or product names are the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.

Working with Outside Vendors
Marketing Media maintains a list of preferred vendors for those instances when a project cannot be done on campus. The list includes design agencies, freelance creative, photographers, printers, and gift companies. As a rule, Marketing Media serves as project manager and oversees all work done to ensure branding compliance.

When using an outside vendor, you must complete an Independent Consultant Agreement and submit it to Human Resources. This will facilitate the prompt payment of vendor invoices. If capturing a photo or video recording of anyone, please complete the photo release form. The release enables Babson to use any likeness and/or voice in a variety of outbound communications.
