Technology Intensive Enterprises

Babson graduates who take jobs with technology intensive companies work in a variety of industries:

  • Biotechnology
  • E-Business
  • Electronics
  • Manufacturing
  • Medical Devices
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Software/Hardware/Networking
  • Telecommunications

Sample job titles for recent MBAs include:

  • Account Manager
  • Director of New Business Development
  • Financial Analyst
  • Online Marketing Manger
  • Partnership Marketing Director
  • Product Engineering Manager
  • Project Manager
  • Regional Sales Manger
  • Senior Market Research Analyst

If you want to pursue a career in this sector, we recommend that you:

  • Research companies that interest you, create a list of the ones you want to target and identify contacts. Develop your network!
  • While some technology companies screen for candidates who have degrees in engineering, IT or life sciences, the jobs presented above will require that you have demonstrated business experience to complement your technical background. Build the business side of your resume during the MBA program through course projects, MCFEs or internships.
  • For start-up technology companies, you will have to seek them out. The management teams at young companies are often looking for new members and do so through word-of-mouth and recommendations. The greater Boston area has an abundance of networking opportunities for those interested in various technology fields (see Networking). Because fit with the team is crucial, they will want to get to know you. You may need to offer to work initially on a project basis.
  • For large companies, check the websites of those that interest you on a weekly basis and apply for positions.
  • Employers will expect you to have current knowledge about industry developments and trends, because the environment is rapidly changing. Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech often highlight local companies. For additional resources, see Websites & Publications.
