Field Based ExperienceSince employers are typically looking for candidates who have demonstrated experience in a particular industry or functional area, you may want to consider using some of your elective credits to build your resume while you are a student.
If you want to work directly with a technology intensive enterprise, check the options available through:
- Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE)
- Global Management Program (GMP)
- Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program (KEIP)
If you want to gain hands-on experience as a manager, consider:
MCFE (Fall, Spring & Summer – 3 credits)
MCFE students work in teams of 3-5 members to assist companies with a wide range of business problems. Throughout the year, the MCFE office publishes a list of companies, along with project descriptions, that are available each semester. You can apply individually or as a team to work with a company that interests you.

Global Management Program (Summer – 3 credits)
The GMP gives students the opportunity to work for an international company during the summer. In order to be eligible to work with a GMP company, you must submit an application to the program office and participate in an interview, demonstrating you commitment and ability to work and live abroad. Once you are accepted to the program, you can submit your resume for various positions as they are posted. The level of financial support for assignments outside the U.S. varies, but students will typically receive a stipend to cover roundtrip airfare, housing and basic living expenses.

Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program (Summer – 3 credits)
If you want to spend the summer working for a start-up company, the Kauffman Enterpreneur Internship Program (KEIP) offers a unique and challenging learning opportunity. In addition to you work responsiblities, as a Kauffman Intern, you are expected to write a business case under the guidance of a Babson faculty member. You can find positions with start-up companies through the Babson MBA Online Recruiting System or make your own arrangements with a company of your choice. Generally, start-ups look for interns who can offer relevant industry or functional expertise, and will then allow you some flexibility in designing your own experience for the summer.

Project Management MCFE (Fall & Spring – 3 credits)
As a student in this course, you will supervise a team of undergraduate students as they complete a project for a company. The primary focus is to help you to develop your project and people management skills, rather than to gain experience working in a particular industry. A list of available projects is posted in November for the Spring semester and April for the Fall semester. You must apply individually to participate in this course, at which time you will be asked to state which projects you prefer.
